Alleppey Company Ltd.

We operate out of Tac House on North Vadai Canal Road. Being so close to the canal, the air is often a bit damp, especially when the rains start, but that is just part of living and working in Alleppey. This company has been around for a very long time, and the building shows its age in a few places, but it is solid. We deal with a lot of traditional materials like coir and other fibers, so the warehouse usually has a very specific, earthy smell. It is a busy place most of the time, with workers moving bundles of materials and trucks coming in to load up finished goods. The office is very basic—just some old wooden desks and filing cabinets that have probably been there since the place opened. We don't use much in the way of high-tech gadgets, as we prefer to do things the way they have always been done. Most of the staff live nearby, and we have all known each other for years, so it feels more like a community than just a workplace. When the monsoon hits, the road outside can get a bit muddy and difficult, but we just put on our boots and keep the work going. It’s a steady, practical business that doesn't change much from year to year. We just focus on the task at hand and try to keep things running smoothly along the canal road.
