Mukhaji Baba Tribal Poultry Farmer

Mukhaji Baba Tribal Poultry Farmer is based in Ekdare village, which is in the Akole taluka. We are set up at House Number 77. This area is quite hilly and beautiful, but it can be a bit isolated. We focus on poultry, mostly raising chickens and selling eggs or the birds themselves to the local markets. It’s a tribal collective, so we work together to make sure everyone involved gets a share of the work and the money. Raising birds in this climate takes some attention, especially keeping them healthy when the seasons change. We don't have a big industrial farm. It’s more of a traditional way of doing things, spread out among the households in the village. Akole is where we go when we need to get supplies or find more buyers. We aren't some big brand you see in the supermarket. We are just local people in Ekdare trying to make a living from what we know. The house serves as our central point for checking the numbers and making sure the feed is distributed. It can be noisy with all the birds, and there is always something to clean or fix.
