The Jani Gin Stores

You can find us over in Mangaldas Market, right off Tilak Road. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded and loud it gets during the day. Our shop, The Jani Gin Stores, has been part of this mess for a long time. It’s a small space, like most shops around here, and we have boxes stacked up high to make room for everything. People come in from all over to look at what we have on the shelves. Most days, it’s just a lot of talking and showing items to customers who are looking for something specific. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. Usually, someone tells a friend about us and that’s how they find the door. The market has its own rhythm. We get here early before the sun gets too hot and start getting things ready. Sometimes the rain makes the lanes outside a bit muddy, but the customers still come through. We spend a lot of time just keeping track of the inventory. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and making sure we haven’t run out of the basics. We don’t use any complicated systems, just a notebook and some common sense. It’s a family-run thing, so there’s always someone you know behind the counter. We’ve seen the market change over the years, with new shops opening and old ones closing, but we’re still here doing the same thing every day.
