Jankiraman Organic Food Private Limited

Our business operates out of Mhaispur in Akola, sharing space with Janki Seeds and Research. Being in a place like this means there is always talk about crops and weather. Jankiraman Organic Food is our way of getting closer to the actual food side of farming. Akola gets incredibly hot during the summer, so our office is usually a bit warm, but we are used to it. We don't have the fancy air conditioning or the rolling chairs you find in big city offices. Instead, we have heavy wooden tables and a lot of paper ledgers. We spend a lot of our time out in the fields or talking to the local farmers in the nearby villages. It’s important for us to see the plants growing with our own eyes. We started this because we already had a background in seeds, so organic food felt like a natural thing to do next. It involves a lot of driving on bumpy roads to check on the harvests. My cousin handles the local distribution while I stay in the office to manage the paperwork. It isn't a glamorous life, and the certifications for organic food can be a real headache to deal with. But we like being part of the agricultural community here in Maharashtra. We are just local people trying to sell good, honest food to whoever needs it.
