Indian Red Cross Society Ambulance Service

We are located right in the city where things are usually moving fast. The Indian Red Cross Society Ambulance Service has been around here for a while, and we just keep the vehicles ready. It is not a typical office job where you sit at a desk all day. We spend a lot of time checking the tires and making sure the oxygen tanks are full. The city can get very crowded, especially during the peak hours in the afternoon, so we have to know all the back roads. Sometimes it is very quiet and we just sit around the station drinking tea and waiting for the phone to ring. Other times, it feels like we don’t have a second to breathe. The white vans with the red cross on the side are a familiar sight to most people living here. We don't have a big fancy building, just a place to park and a small room for the drivers to rest. The city noise is always in the background, whether it’s the market nearby or the traffic on the main road. We keep a logbook on a wooden clipboard to track where we go and when we get back. It's a lot of waiting followed by a lot of rushing. We just try to keep the engines running smooth so we are ready when a call finally comes in. Every day is different depending on what happens in the streets.
