Sri Venkateswara Rice Mill

Sri Venkateswara Rice Mill is located on P. P Road in Akividu, West Godavari. This area is known for rice, and we’ve been part of that for quite a while. The mill itself is a big structure that stays pretty busy during the harvest months. There’s a constant sound of the hullers and the sifters working away. You can’t really hear yourself talk when the machines are at full speed, so we use a lot of hand signals to get things done. Stacks of gunny bags are piled up to the ceiling in some parts of the warehouse. It gets very humid here, especially in the rainy season, which makes the work a bit tougher. We have a small team of people who have been working the machines since they were young. The floor is always covered in a bit of rice husk, no matter how much we sweep it. It’s just the nature of the business. We take the paddy, process it, and bag it up. The trucks line up outside on P. P Road to take the finished rice to different towns. It is a simple life centered around the cycles of the crops. We don't have any fancy signs or a big reception area. If you come by, you’ll likely find us near the loading dock or checking the grain quality in the palm of our hands. It's dusty and loud, but it's what we do. We just focus on keeping the mill running and getting the rice out.
