Swami Foods & Bakers

You can find Swami Foods & Bakers over on Jaipur Road inside the Swami Complex, right near the India Motors Circle. The area is usually packed with cars and bikes because the circle is a major point for people traveling through. We get started pretty early in the morning because the ovens need time to heat up properly. By the time the sun is up, the smell of fresh bread and biscuits starts to fill the complex. We have glass counters where we keep the different snacks and baked goods we make every day. It’s not a massive operation, just a local bakery where we do everything by hand. The kitchen in the back is where most of the work happens and it stays pretty warm in there even when the weather is cool. We have a few regular customers who come in every afternoon for their tea-time snacks. The India Motors Circle can be a bit of a nightmare for traffic, but it keeps the area lively. We spend a lot of time wiping down the glass and sweeping the flour off the floor. It is a lot of standing around and waiting for the next batch to come out of the oven. We don't have any corporate branding or fancy uniforms, just some aprons and a desire to get the baking done right. It is a basic setup that works well for us and the people in the neighborhood.
