If you go to Kesar Ganj in Ajmer and look for Chatayi Mohalla, you’ll find us at Shop No-1. It’s a small space, care of Sunita Bhagchandani, and we go by the name Silk Road Media Private Limited. Being in a shop instead of a big office block makes us feel more connected to the neighborhood and the people living here. We see the same people walking past our window every single day. The space inside is pretty tight, so we’ve had to be smart about where we put the desks and all the equipment. It’s a media business, so it’s mostly computers and some recording gear tucked into the corners where they fit. It gets a bit noisy outside with the market sounds and people shouting, but it’s a lively atmosphere to work in. We don’t have any fancy mission statements hanging on the wall to look at. We just have a big calendar and a list of things to get through before the day ends. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when everyone is talking at once in such a small room, but we manage to stay organized. Ajmer is a great place to be, and Kesar Ganj has its own rhythm that we’ve become a part of over time. We aren't trying to be the biggest agency in the country. We just want to do right by the people we work with and keep the lights on. It’s a practical, local operation and that’s how we like it.
