Shri Charbhuja Hospital

Our hospital, Shri Charbhuja Hospital, sits right on Pushkar Road, and it’s a pretty busy stretch of pavement. Being on a main road like Pushkar Road means we get people stopping in at all hours, sometimes just because they were passing by and realized they didn’t feel well. The building itself is sturdy but shows its age in the corners and the way the doors creak. We have a small staff and we all end up doing a bit of everything, from checking people in to cleaning up spills. It’s not a quiet place, especially with the buses and trucks rumbling by outside all day long. We have a few wards and some private rooms, though they stay full most of the time. The lighting in the hallways is a bit dim, but it’s easier on the eyes for the patients resting. We don’t use any of that corporate speak here. We just tell people what’s happening and what the next step is. Sometimes the pharmacy run takes longer than it should because we’re waiting on a delivery. We’ve got a couple of benches outside where people sit and wait for their family members. It’s a lot of work keeping a place like this running on Pushkar Road, but it’s what we do. We don't have any big awards on the wall, just a lot of old clipboards and a calendar that’s usually a day behind. It is what it is.
