Sharma General Store

Sharma General Store is at number 68 in the Nasirabad Sadar Bazar. Being in the main market means there is always noise and people passing by. We’ve had this shop for a long time. It’s a narrow building, so we have to stack things high up to the ceiling. I usually have to use a wooden ladder to reach the top shelves when someone wants a specific brand of tea or a large pack of detergent. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We open early in the morning, around the time the tea stalls nearby start lighting their stoves. Usually, it’s just me and my cousin working here. We don’t have a computer system or anything, just a thick notebook where we write things down. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the front entrance for a few minutes while they unload, but nobody seems to mind much. Nasirabad is a place where people take their time. We sell a lot of small items like matchboxes, pens, and snacks for school kids. The light inside isn't the brightest, but we know exactly where every single item is hidden. It’s a bit of a maze, but it works for us. We just try to keep the staples in stock so people don’t have to go far for their daily cooking needs or household supplies in the bazaar.
