Ratan Sarees

You can find Ratan Sarees inside the Madar Gate area. It’s tucked away a bit, so you have to look for us once you get past the main gate. The address is just Inside Madar Gate, Madar Gate. It’s a historic part of town and we’ve been part of it for years. The shop is small and packed with sarees from floor to ceiling. Sometimes I think we have too many, but then someone comes in looking for a specific color and I’m glad we have it. We don’t do any big marketing. We don't even have a glossy brochure. It's just a place where we sit and sell clothes. My brother and I run the place mostly. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they look at the patterns. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get it done. We’re too busy with the customers and the stock. We see a lot of people passing through Madar Gate every day. Some just stop to ask for directions, and some come in to buy. It’s a busy life, but it’s our life. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just a saree shop in an old part of the city.
