Rajesh General Store

Rajesh General Store is situated right on Station Road. As you can imagine, it is a very busy place because of all the people going to and from the railway station. The sound of horns and people shouting is just something we have gotten used to over the years. We have to keep things moving fast here because most of our customers are in a hurry to catch a train or a bus. We sell a lot of small items like cigarettes, matches, water bottles, and packets of biscuits. I usually stand behind the counter for most of the day because there is always someone coming in. The shop is narrow and deep, with shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. I have a long stick with a hook on the end to reach the stuff at the very top. It gets quite dusty because of all the traffic outside, so there is a lot of cleaning involved every single morning. I often see the same faces every day, people who work near the station or commute regularly. There isn't much space to sit down, and the air is always full of the smell of diesel from the street. It’s a hectic way to spend the day, but it keeps us busy and the time goes by quickly. We just try to have what people need so they can get on with their journey without much delay.
