Qazi Mashir Spray Painter is right at 20 New Khailand Market. It’s a pretty tight spot because the market is always full of cars and people looking for parts. We have a small area where we do all the spray work, so there’s always a bit of a mist in the air and that strong smell of thinner. It’s not a big corporate garage with a waiting room and coffee. Usually, you’ll just find us with masks on, focused on getting the coat even on whatever piece we are working on. The market can be really loud with people shouting and horns honking, but we just get used to it after a while. We have been in this specific stall for some time now. It’s a bit worn down, and the walls are covered in different colors from years of testing out the spray guns. We don't have much space for sitting around, so we’re usually on our feet all day. Sometimes we have to move stuff out onto the pavement just to make room to move. It’s a gritty kind of job and we end the day with paint under our fingernails and on our boots. Most of the other shop owners in Khailand Market know us, and we all kind of look out for each other. It’s just a basic shop where we do what we know how to do.
