Porwal Optical Clinic

Porwal Optical Clinic is right here on Station Road, and if you’ve ever walked past when the trains are coming in, you’ve probably seen us. It’s a busy spot with lots of people rushing by, but inside it’s a lot quieter. We’ve been fixing glasses and checking eyes here for a long time. The shop isn’t very large, so we have to keep things organized so we don’t trip over each other. We have rows of frames on the walls, some old and some newer styles, and a small chair where people sit to wait. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass cases. We know most of the shopkeepers on this block, and we often swap stories over a cup of tea in the afternoon. It’s a local business through and through. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know how to handle the equipment. People stop in because they lost a screw in their frames or they can't see the newspaper as well as they used to. We don't try to rush them out the door. We listen to what they need and do our best to fix it. It’s simple work, but it keeps us busy from morning until the streetlights come on. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows we are here.
