You can find Om Vastra Bhandear over in Soltheba Bhawan, which is right in the Old Mandi part of Nala Bazar. It’s an old building with a lot of character, and you can tell by the way the thick walls are built to keep out the heat. We’ve been set up here for a long time, and we’ve seen the market change quite a bit over the decades, though the Old Mandi area still feels very traditional and grounded. The shop itself is pretty straightforward and functional. We have our goods stacked up on the counters, and we try to keep things as organized as possible, though it often gets a bit chaotic during the busy festival seasons when everyone is out. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but it’s enough for us to see what we’re doing. We don't use any fancy technology here, mostly just doing things the old-fashioned way with paper receipts and pens. It’s a bit of a walk to get to us if the main road is blocked by trucks, but people still find their way to our door. We spend a lot of time sitting and talking with the people who come by, whether they’re actually buying something or just stopping to say hello and share some news. There’s always some noise coming from the street outside, with vendors shouting and people bartering over prices. It’s just the background music to our daily lives. We’re not trying to be the biggest shop. We just want to work honestly.
