Om General Store

Our shop, Om General Store, is right there on Taragarh Road, not too far from the Ramganj Thana. Most days start pretty early around here when the sun is just coming up. I get the shutters up and start sweeping the front area because the dust from the road gets everywhere. It’s a busy spot since people are always moving towards the Thana or heading further down the road. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves filled with the usual things you’d need at home. We have soap, some snacks, notebooks for the school kids, and different types of flour and pulses in the back. It isn't a huge place, so things can get a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. I spend a lot of time checking what’s running low and writing it down on a piece of paper so I don't forget to order more tomorrow. The fan overhead makes a bit of a clicking sound but it keeps the air moving during the hot afternoons. Neighbors stop by to talk for a minute while they buy their milk or a packet of biscuits. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the front for a bit, and we have to move stuff quickly. It’s just a normal day-to-day routine of keeping things stocked and making sure everything is where it should be. Nothing fancy about it, just a local shop where we know most of the faces that walk through the door.
