Our shop, Naveen Chand Jain, is tucked away in Pansari Bazar near Ajmeri Gate. If you know the bazaar, you know it’s always crowded and noisy. We like it that way. It’s been our spot for a long time. We handle all sorts of things people need for their homes. The shelves are pretty high and packed with containers. Sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for, but we usually get there. The smell of the spices and goods in the market is something you get used to. We start early because the market wakes up before the sun is even fully up. Ajmeri Gate is a busy area, so there’s never a quiet moment. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a front desk. It’s just us behind the counter, weighing things out and chatting with the regulars. Some days are slower than others, but there is always a neighbor popping in to share some tea or news. We’ve seen kids grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own families now. It makes you realize how long we’ve been standing here in Pansari Bazar. We don’t use much technology, just a calculator and our notebooks. It’s simple, and it works for the kind of business we run. You just come in, tell us what you need, and we pull it from the shelf.
