Motilal Satyanarayan

If you go down to Station Road in the Purani Mandi area, you will find Motilal Satyanarayan. Our shop has been around for a very long time, passed down through the family. We aren't trying to do anything fancy here. We just sell what we've always sold. The old market area is always crowded with cycles and carts, and it can be hard to find a place to stand sometimes. We open early in the morning because that's when the traders start moving around. Our shop is full of stock, sometimes piled up high because we don't have a big warehouse. It’s a bit dusty because of the road, but we try to keep things clean. Most of our customers are old friends who have been buying from us for decades. They come in, sit on the stools, and talk for a bit before even looking at the goods. It’s a slow way of doing things, but it’s the way we like it. We don’t use computers much, mostly just paper and pens for our accounts. It works fine for us. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use candles or just wait for the light to come back. This is just life on Station Road. We’ve seen the city change a lot from our front door, but inside the shop, things stay pretty much the same. It is a quiet existence but we are satisfied with what we have.
