About Mahadev Bartan Bhandar – Housewares & Supplies in Ajmer
Mahadev Bartan Bhandar is our little shop in Nala Bazar. If you are looking for stainless steel pots, pans, or traditional brass items, this is where we keep them all. Nala Bazar is a very old and tight street, so the shop feels even more crowded than it actually is. We have stacks of plates and tiffin boxes reaching almost to the ceiling. When someone moves a pile of buckets, you can hear the clanging of metal all the way down the street. It’s a noisy place but we are used to the sound by now. People come here when they are setting up a new kitchen or when there is a big wedding in the family. We sell everything from small spoons to big cooking vessels used for cooking feasts. The floor is mostly covered with boxes that just arrived from the manufacturers. We don't have much room to walk around, but we manage to find whatever the customer asks for in the back. The light inside isn't very bright, but the shine from the new steel and copper makes up for it. Nala Bazar is always crowded with shoppers and cows, and we fit right in with the rest of the old stores. We don't use any fancy sales tactics or posters. We just show the items, tell the price, and wrap them up in old newspapers with some string. It’s a traditional way of doing things that hasn't changed much over time. We’ve been in this spot for years and the daily routine stays pretty much the same for us.
