M G Novelty Store is tucked away in Naya Bazar. It’s the kind of place where you find something different every time you look on a different shelf. We have a lot of small items, plastic toys, and little household things that people need. Naya Bazar is a narrow place, so it feels very close and personal when customers come in. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes and trying to find room for new things. It’s hard to keep it all organized, so sometimes things are just piled up in the corners. We don't have a big staff, just us looking after the counter and making sure no one walks off with the small stuff. The morning sun hits the front of the shop and makes it really bright for a few hours. We usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background. People come in looking for a specific gift or just something for their house, and we help them dig through the bins. It’s a lot of "let me check in the back" and then coming back with something we forgot we even had. We’ve been here in Naya Bazar for a long time, so we know the other shopkeepers well. We share snacks in the afternoon and complain about the heat. It’s just a normal way to spend the day for us in this little corner of the market.
