Laxmi General Store

Laxmi General Store has been sitting here on Srinagar Road for quite a while now. If you walk down towards Subhash Nagar near Khan Pura Road, you will see our blue shutters. Most days start pretty early when the milk crates arrive. We spend the first hour just shifting things around and making sure the floor is swept. It gets a bit dusty with all the traffic passing by. We keep a bit of everything on the shelves, mostly things people realize they forgot at the last minute. There are packets of biscuits, soap, some loose pulses, and those little sachets of shampoo that people like. The shelves are made of old wood and sometimes they creak when we put too many heavy bags of flour on them. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything. It’s just a regular shop where people stop by on their way home. Sometimes the kids from the nearby houses come in with a few coins for candy. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is getting off work and needs stuff for dinner. We try to keep things organized but honestly, sometimes the back room gets a bit messy with empty cardboard boxes. The light in the back flickers a little but it works fine for finding what we need. It’s just us here most of the time, keeping the place running and watching the cars go by on the main road.
