Kanhiya Bag House

Kanhiya Bag House is right across from the Moti Katla gate, over in the Dargaah Bazar and Dhan Mandi area. This is a very old part of the city, and the streets are narrow and usually full of people visiting the Dargaah or the market. We’ve been selling bags here for as long as I can remember. We carry everything from simple cloth bags for the market to more durable ones for traveling. The shop itself is quite old, with wooden shelves that have been there forever. We don't have a lot of fancy lighting, just the natural light coming in from the front and a couple of bulbs. It’s a busy spot because of the location, so we’re usually on our feet all day. We handle everything ourselves, from sweeping the floor in the morning to locking up late at night. There’s no big management team here, just a couple of us doing the work. People from all over come to this market, so we meet a lot of different folks. We don't really do any promotion; people just see the bags hanging up and stop to ask about them. We try to keep things honest and simple. If a bag isn't good quality, we won't stock it. It’s a small life but it’s ours, and we’re happy to be part of the Dhan Mandi community. We just keep our heads down and keep the business going.
