Our place is at 385/29 in Durga Colony, which is right near the railway line in the Gaddi Maliyan area of Jonsganj. You can definitely hear the trains going by throughout the day, which is something we just got used to after the first week. We do a lot of craft work here at Jiyo Craft, so the tables are usually covered in scraps, tools, and half-finished projects. It’s not a polished studio by any means. It’s more of a workshop where things actually get made. We started this because we wanted to have a space of our own to work. The colony is a tight-knit place, and we often have neighbors sticking their heads in to see what we’re up to. We don't have any big mission statements or corporate goals. We just show up in the morning, make some tea, and start working on whatever needs to be done. The floors are a bit uneven and the lighting could be better, but it’s our space and it works for us. We spend a lot of time just organizing materials so we can actually find what we need. It’s a lot of manual work and sometimes our hands are a mess by the end of the shift. We just enjoy the process of making things and being part of the local scene here in Jonsganj.
