About Jaya Pan House – Housewares & Supplies in Ajmer
We are located right on Daulat Bagh Soni Ji Ki Nasiya Marg. It’s a beautiful area with the temple nearby, so we get a lot of people who come for darshan. At Jaya Pan House, the day starts with washing the floors and making sure the jars are filled. I get the leaves delivered every couple of days. I have to check each one to make sure they aren't spoiled. It’s a lot of work that people don’t see. I use a small brass bowl for the lime and another one for the katha. My fingers are always a bit red from the juices. We have some regular customers who stop their scooters right in front and wait for me to hand them their pan. It’s a bit of a squeeze when the street gets narrow with all the rickshaws and carts. I like the smell of the roses and the sweet syrup we use for the meetha pan. It reminds me of when I was a kid helping my uncle out. The shop isn't very big, just enough for me to stand and a few shelves for the supplies. I have a small mirror on the wall so people can check their faces after they eat. In the winter, it gets quite chilly here because of the open front, but the hot tea keeps me going. I just keep folding and wrapping things up. That’s it.
