Jai Jhulelal Bartan Bhandar

Our shop, Jai Jhulelal Bartan Bhandar, is located at Delhi Gate 6. It is a place full of metal. We have stacks of stainless steel plates, brass bowls, and heavy aluminum pots everywhere you look. If you walk in, you have to be careful not to knock anything over because the piles go all the way to the ceiling. It is a family business. My uncle used to sit here, and now I do. We have been at Delhi Gate 6 for a long time. People come here when they are getting married and need a whole set of kitchen items. Or sometimes it is just a lady looking for a specific kind of spoon. The shop smells a bit like metal and old cardboard. It is not a fancy showroom with lights and mirrors. We have basic tube lights and a heavy iron shutter that is hard to pull down at night. The floor is scratched up from moving the heavy crates of utensils around. We do not really have a system for where things are, but I usually know which pile has what. It gets very hot in the summer because of all the metal reflecting the heat. We just keep the fan running and drink cold water. It is a lot of hard work lifting the heavy sets, but it is what we do to get by every day.
