Hindustan Zinc Limited

We are based at Sh-31 in the Zinc Colony over in Hurda. It’s part of the Bhilwara district and serves as a home base for those of us working with Hindustan Zinc Limited in this part of Rajasthan. The house itself is a standard colony building, nothing special to look at from the outside, but it’s where all our coordination and planning happens. We’ve turned a couple of the back rooms into workspaces. It feels a bit like working from a home, but with a lot more paperwork and people coming by at odd hours. The local area around Hurda is mostly rural and quiet, so the colony feels like a little island of busy activity. We spend our time tracking the numbers and making sure all the supplies are where they need to be for the next day. There’s always a lot of talk about the weather and the state of the roads, as those things really affect our day-to-day work out here. We don't use big words or have fancy meetings with slides. We just sit around the main table, drink our chai, and figure out what needs to get done next. It can be a bit slow on some afternoons, and then incredibly hectic the next morning, but we take it as it comes. Being in the heart of the community means we’re always hearing the latest news from the other workers. It’s a simple, honest way to work for us.
