Govind Tea And General Store

It is pretty quiet here in Mahadev Mohalla until the sun actually comes up. We get the shutters open early at 4023 Shantikunj because people in Nasirabad like their morning tea and they usually run out of sugar or milk at the last minute. The shop is not very big but we have packed a lot into the shelves over the years. You have to watch your head near the back where the tea crates are stacked up. I spend most of my day just moving jars around and writing down what we need to get from the wholesalers next time. Sometimes the fans make a bit of a rattling noise when it gets hot in the afternoon, but we are used to it by now. Most people who come in are just neighbors we have known for ten or fifteen years. They don't just buy stuff; they stay to talk about the weather or who is getting married next. We keep the usual things like biscuits, soap, and different kinds of loose tea leaves that people prefer around here. It gets a bit crowded when the school kids come by for snacks after their classes. I try to keep everything organized but with so many small packets, it is hard to stay perfect. It is just a regular place where we do our work and try to help out whoever walks through the door in Nasirabad.
