If you walk down Nala Bazar, you’ll find Ganpati Gift Koner right there among the other stores. It is a humble place, just a corner where we keep all sorts of gift items stacked up. We have been in Nala Bazar for some time now and it’s a place that never really sleeps. There is always someone looking for a small toy or a decorative piece for their home. We don't try to be anything we aren't. The shop is simple, with shelves lining the walls and a counter where we sit. Some days are slow and we just chat with the neighbors, but other times, especially during the festival months, it gets so busy we can hardly keep up with the people coming in. We try to keep a variety of things so there is something for everyone who walks through the door. Nala Bazar has its own rhythm and we are just a small part of that daily flow. Our space is filled with colorful boxes and items that we pick out ourselves to sell. It’s a practical business. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait for the first customer. It is honest work and it keeps us connected to the community here. Most people know us by name and that’s a nice way to run a shop. We don't need any big advertisements or fancy displays to keep things going. It's just us doing what we know how to do every day in our little corner.
