Dilip Cutlery Store

If you are walking through Nala Bazar you will find us near the corner. Dilip Cutlery Store is not a big place but we have a lot of small things packed into the glass cases. We have knives, scissors, and all kinds of small kitchen tools that people need. I spend most of my day sitting on a stool near the door talking to the neighbors. It is a very old street and the shop has been here for years. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool even when it is hot outside. We sell things like peelers and nutcrackers which don't cost much but everyone needs them. Sometimes people come in just to get their old scissors sharpened because they don't want to buy new ones. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning in here. Just a couple of tube lights that flicker once in a while. My son helps out on the weekends when he isn't at school. We keep the stock in wooden drawers that stick a bit when it is humid. There is no big mystery to what we do. We just open up in the morning and wait for the shoppers to come by. It gets really busy during the festival season and then the shop feels even smaller than it is. We like it here because everyone knows our name and we know theirs. It is a simple way of living but it feels right for us to be part of the bazaar life.
