About Darbar General Store & Tea Stall – Food & Beverages in Ajmer
At Darbar General Store & Tea Stall, things are always moving. We are right by the Silora Tempo Stand at Khiki Chok in Kishangarh. Since we have both a general store and a tea stall, there is usually a group of people hanging around. The drivers wait for passengers and sip on tea while they chat. I am usually busy brewing the next pot of tea or handing out biscuits and small items from the store side. The smell of ginger and boiling milk is always in the air. Khiki Chok is a lively place, especially during the mornings when everyone is trying to get somewhere. I have a few benches outside where people can sit for a minute. The shop itself is packed with small packets and daily necessities. It is a bit cramped, and I often have to move things around just to find what someone asked for. Sometimes I run out of change, and I have to ask the tempo drivers if they can break a big note for me. It is a lot of work managing the stove and the shop at the same time. My hands are usually stained with tea or dust from the dry goods. I don't have a fancy menu or a big sign. People just know we are here. It is a local spot for local people, and that is how it has always been. I spend a lot of time cleaning glasses and restocking the jars of snacks.
