Charan Paduka

Down here in Jaipur, we run Charan Paduka. It’s a city that’s always full of color and a lot of tourists, but we’re more focused on the local side of things. Since we deal with footwear, our space is usually filled with the smell of leather and materials. We don't have a massive warehouse, just a nice spot where we can organize everything. The heat in Jaipur during the summer is no joke, so we tend to start our days early before the sun really gets going. Most of our work is about checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are sorted right. It’s a lot of hands-on stuff. We don't use much fancy software; it’s mostly just us keeping track of things in our notebooks. We’ve been part of the local scene for a while. Our neighbors are other small shops, and we all know each other. Sometimes we sit outside on the steps when the sun goes down to catch a breeze. We don't do big fancy advertisements or anything. We just hope that if someone buys a pair of our shoes, they like them enough to come back. It’s a simple way of doing business, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We’re just a small team trying to make sure the quality is decent before anything leaves the door. Jaipur is a busy place, but we try to keep things calm in our shop. It is just a normal part of life for us.
