Arvind Kirana Store

Arvind Kirana Store is located on Khan Pura Road in the Adarsh Nagar area. If you walk down the road, you will see our shop front usually crowded with sacks of rice and containers of cooking oil. It is a neighborhood spot where kids come in for a single piece of candy and their parents come later for the full month of groceries. We have a lot of stuff squeezed into a small space, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you walk inside. The road outside can get pretty dusty and noisy with all the scooters passing by. We spend most of our time weighing out sugar or pulses into small plastic bags. It is a lot of repetitive work, but it is what people need. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit, just waiting for it to come back on so the fridge stays cold. We know most of the people who live in Adarsh Nagar by their first names. They stop by to pick up tea leaves or soap and usually stay for a couple of minutes to talk about local news. Khan Pura Road is a busy stretch, and we have seen a lot of changes over the years from our doorway. We just keep the shelves stocked as much as we can and try to keep up with the daily rush of the neighborhood.
