Anju Dairy is over on Mayo College Link Road in the Azad Nagar area. We get up very early every morning, way before the sun is even thinking about coming out. The milk arrives in big cans and we have to get everything ready for the morning rush. It’s a simple life centered around fresh milk, curd, and some paneer. The floor is always a bit wet from washing the containers. We don't have a big corporate office or a marketing team. It’s just us behind the counter. Families from around the neighborhood come by with their own steel jugs. We know most of the kids who grow up drinking our milk. The shop is small and smells like fresh dairy. We don't sell a million different products, just the basics that people need for their tea and cooking. Sometimes we run out of curd by noon if it’s a hot day. That’s just how it is. We don't use fancy packaging. We just measure it out and hand it over. It’s hard work, especially in the winters when the water is freezing cold. But we like being part of the morning routine for the people in Azad Nagar. It feels good to provide something that everyone needs every single day. We don't change much around here, we just keep things the way they've always been.
