Pk Bamboo Industry

Out here in Ramhlun North, things move at a certain pace. We are based at Biak In Mual, and if you come by, you’ll definitely smell the wood and bamboo. It’s a very hands-on type of business. We spend the whole day cutting, smoothing, and shaping. There is always dust on our clothes by noon. The tools we use are old but they still work better than the new stuff sometimes. We don't have a big fancy office; our space is mostly dedicated to the materials. Bamboo is a tricky thing to work with if you don't know the tricks, but we’ve been doing this long enough that it’s second nature now. Some days the weather makes it hard to work, especially if it’s too damp, but we manage. We aren't a huge operation with hundreds of workers. It’s a small group of us just doing the work. People from around the area know where to find us if they need something made. We don't spend much time on the phone or the computer. Most of our time is spent on the floor, working with our hands. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. When we finish a piece, it’s a good feeling to see it sitting there ready to go. Ramhlun North is a good place for a shop like ours.
