Our little shop is on Chanmari Ramhlun Road. It’s a convenient spot because we are so close to the Accounts and Treasuries Office. A lot of the staff from there pop in during their breaks to grab snacks or whatever they forgot to buy on their way to work. The road outside can get pretty cramped with cars and scooters, especially in the mornings when everyone is rushing. Inside the store, we try to keep the shelves stocked with the basics—milk, bread, pens, and some household stuff. It’s a tight squeeze sometimes when more than three people are inside at once. My family has been running this place, and we know most of the neighbors by their first names. We spend a lot of time just chatting with people who stop by for a minute. The floor is a bit worn down from all the foot traffic, and the front door has a bell that rings every time someone enters, which can get a bit annoying after eight hours. We don’t have a big staff, just us and occasionally a cousin helping out on the weekends. It’s a simple life, opening up early and closing when the street gets quiet. We usually sit on the stools behind the counter and watch the traffic go by on Ramhlun Road while waiting for the next customer to walk through the door. Sometimes we have to move the crates around just to make enough room for the new delivery of soda bottles that arrives on Tuesday mornings.
