Khan Motors

Out here in Village Ahore, things move a bit slower than in the city. Khan Motors has been sitting in this same spot in the Jalore district for years. It is a family thing, mostly. My father started it and now we all just keep it going. We see a lot of different vehicles come through here, from old trucks that barely run to bikes that need a quick tune-up. The dust in Jalore is something else, it gets into everything, so we spend a lot of time cleaning parts before we even start the repairs. The shop is right near the P.O. Ahore, so people know where to find us. We don't have a fancy waiting room with air conditioning. Usually, customers just sit on a bench outside and chat while we look under the hood. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for parts to come in from the bigger towns, but people around here understand how it is. It’s a lot of manual labor and our hands are always stained with oil. We don't use computers much, just our eyes and ears to figure out what's wrong with an engine. It’s honest work and it keeps the village moving. We like being part of the community here. Every day is different, depending on what breaks down on the road. We just do our bit and go home tired after the sun sets.
