About R. K. Sculpture Studio – Art & Craft in Ahmednagar
You’ll find R. K. Sculpture Studio at No. 1062 inside Keshav Chambers, over in the Sarjepura area on MG Road. The studio is usually filled with the smell of wet clay and the sound of chisels hitting stone or plaster. It’s a messy place, with white dust covering almost everything, including our clothes. We spend our days shaping figures and working on different artistic projects that come our way. Being on MG Road means we’re in a very old and central part of town. Keshav Chambers is an older building with a lot of character, which fits the kind of work we do. There are half-finished statues sitting on benches and sketches pinned to the walls. We don't have a clean, polished gallery. This is where the actual making happens. Sometimes it takes weeks to get a single piece right, and we often stay late when the light is good or when a deadline is coming up. People often stop by just to peek in and see what we’re carving. It’s a slow process, unlike the fast pace of the shops outside on the main road. We’ve been here for years, and the studio has become like a second home. We use traditional tools mostly, though we have a few modern ones to speed things up. It’s a quiet life of creating things with our hands, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. It is just a dusty, busy studio at the end of the day.
