Shri Gajanan Dal Mill

We've been here at Court Lane in Newasa Khurda for a good while now. It’s just the dal mill, nothing fancy. People around Tal-Newasa know where we are. We mostly just focus on the processing work. It gets dusty and loud in here during the day, but that’s just how the machines are. We handle different kinds of pulses. The building at No. 125 isn't hard to find if you're coming down the lane. Some days are busier than others depending on the season and what crops are coming in. We don't have a big office or anything like that. It's mostly just the milling area and where we stack the bags. My family has been involved in this kind of work for years. We try to keep the machines running smooth so there aren't many delays for the folks waiting. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, which is frustrating but it happens. We just do the job day by day. It’s honest work and we like being part of the local scene here. If you walk past, you’ll probably hear the grinders going. We aren't trying to be the biggest mill around, just a steady one that people can rely on when they need their dal processed right. It’s just us here working hard every morning until the sun goes down. We have a lot of heavy sacks to move today before we can close up.
