Porwal Provision Store

Our shop is right here on MG Road in the Kapad Bazar area of Ahmednagar. It is not a very big place but we have been here for a long time. Most people know us because we are directly opposite the Bombay Bakery, so when the wind blows the right way, it smells like fresh bread inside our store. I usually open the shutters early in the morning when the street is still quiet and the sun is not too hot yet. I spend a lot of my time just moving boxes around or checking what needs to be ordered for the next week. The shelves are filled with all sorts of things like bags of flour, soaps, and different cooking oils. Sometimes the traffic on MG Road gets really loud and the dust comes inside, so I have to keep cleaning the glass jars on the counter. Customers come in and out all day, mostly people living nearby who need something quick for their dinner or some tea powder. It’s just a normal routine here and I’ve gotten used to the noise of the bikes and cars outside. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but it doesn’t really matter much for getting the work done. I keep a small chair behind the counter where I sit when there are no people around, just watching the street and waiting for the next delivery truck to arrive from the main market.
