Working in dairy means you don't get many days off. Cows don't stop for holidays, and neither do we. We are located out on Kakdi Airport Road, specifically at Raut Vasti 339 in Kelwad BK. It’s a bit of a drive out here but it’s where the space is. Every morning starts while it’s still dark outside. The milk comes in and we have to get it sorted and ready before the heat of the day kicks in. We have stainless steel tanks and pipes everywhere. It’s a lot of cleaning, to be honest. You spend half your life washing things down in a dairy. We aren’t some massive corporate outfit with a glass building. It’s just a practical site where we handle the milk and make sure it goes where it's supposed to. The road out here near the airport gets a bit dusty. We see the planes taking off while we’re loading up the containers. It’s a routine that we’ve gotten used to over the years. Some of us have been working with milk since we were kids. It’s what we know. We don’t have a marketing department or anything like that. We just have our hands and the equipment. Folks in Rahata know the name. We keep things plain and simple. If the milk is good, that is enough for us. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The metal floors are always wet and the cooling fans are loud, but that is the life of a dairy worker.
