Hira Pepsi

Village Kada is a quiet place mostly, but being near the Madan Maharaj Temple means we see a lot of people passing through our doors. Hira Pepsi has been at this post in Kada for a long time. The building is old and the walls are thick. We have a lot of crates stacked up in the yard outside. In the summer, the heat here in Beed district is no joke, so we try to get most of the heavy lifting done before the sun gets too high. The temple bells are a good way to tell the time without looking at a watch. My brother handles the deliveries to Taluka Ashti while I stay back to manage the locals who walk in. We don't have a big sign or anything, just the name and the address which everyone in the village knows anyway. Sometimes the dogs from the street sleep under the delivery van because it is the only shade they can find in the dirt. It is a simple setup here. We have a small table where we keep the accounts and a phone that rings more than it should. The concrete floor stays cool for a bit in the early morning. People stop by for a chat even if they are not buying anything, and that is just how it goes in a small village like this. It is a lot of manual work, loading and unloading every single day, but it keeps us all fit.
