Dr. Ithape Hospital

Located out on New Nagar Road in the Ahmednagar district, this hospital has been standing for years. The road outside is often dusty and can get very busy with trucks and buses heading toward the city. We have a big gate that stays open most of the day, and you can see the main building from quite a distance. It’s a practical building, nothing too modern to look at, just concrete and glass. Inside, the hallways are wide enough for the stretchers, and the walls are painted a pale green color that’s common in hospitals around here. We have some benches lined up in the lobby where families sit and wait. The ceiling fans hum constantly to keep the heat at bay during the summer months. It gets quite hot in Ahmednagar, so those fans are important. Most of the staff live nearby, so they walk or bike to work every morning. We have a kitchen in the back where we make tea for the workers, and you can usually hear the clinking of cups around four in the afternoon. It’s a busy place with people coming from all over the district, some traveling quite a long way. We don't have any flashy advertisements. People just know where Dr. Ithape Hospital is because it’s been on New Nagar Road for so long. We keep the floors mopped and the lights on, and we just do the work that needs doing every single day without making any big fuss about it.
