Arvind Footwear Pvt. Ltd. is over at C-35 in the MIDC area. You can usually tell you’re close to our building because of the distinct smell of rubber and synthetic materials. We’ve been operating out of this facility for a long time, and the walls have that worn look that comes from years of production. Inside, the machines that cut the soles and stitch the uppers make a rhythmic thumping sound that you stop hearing after about ten minutes of being there. It’s a busy floor with different stations for gluing, trimming, and boxing up the finished shoes. We aren't making high-end fashion items; we’re making footwear that people actually use for work and daily life. The break room is just a few benches where the staff share their tiffin boxes and talk about the weekend. Sometimes the production line gets backed up if a machine breaks down, and then it is all hands on deck to get it fixed so we don’t fall behind on the daily target. The MIDC area is pretty dusty, and the trucks coming to pick up the orders kick up even more of it. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. If someone wants to see what we do, they usually just stand by the loading dock and watch the crates go by. It is just a regular factory doing its best to stay on schedule.
