ambe Ambulance Service is based near the Bed College in Sangamner. We are on the New Akola Road, right by Tambe Hospital. It’s a busy spot because of the hospital traffic. We have our ambulances parked outside most of the time, ready to go. The phone rings at all hours of the night. It's a tough job sometimes. You never know what the next call will be. We have a small room where the drivers sit and wait. There is an old TV that doesn't get many channels. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake on the night shifts. The road outside can get quite dusty in the summer. Sangamner is a busy town and the traffic can be a nightmare during the day. We have to know all the shortcuts to get around quickly. Tambe Hospital is a landmark, so people always know where we are. We keep the vehicles clean, even though the roads try to make them dirty again. It’s not a corporate office. It’s just a base for our service. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just have our number saved. It’s a job that needs a lot of patience. We see a lot of things. Most of us have been doing this for years. We just keep the engines running and wait for the next call. It’s a service that people really need around here. I usually check the tires every morning.
