Damian Tiles

Damian Tiles is located over by Jandali Road. If you know where the Akshardham Mandir is, we are just opposite that. We are also near the old Sond Cinema in Ahmedgarh. It’s a part of town that has changed a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed right here. I spend most of my time among the pallets of tiles. We carry a lot of different designs, though I tend to like the simpler ones myself. People come in with all sorts of ideas for their kitchens or bathrooms, and I try to help them find something that fits their budget. The shop isn’t very large, so we have to stack things high. You have to be careful when you’re walking around the back. It’s a family business, so you’ll usually see my son or my nephew helping out with the loading. We don't have a polished showroom with air conditioning. It’s just a warehouse style place where you can see the products in the natural light. Sometimes we run out of a certain pattern and have to wait for the truck to come in, but that’s just part of the business. We don't promise anything we can't do. We just sell tiles and try to give people a straight answer about what is currently in stock. It’s a busy life, but it keeps us out of trouble and the bills paid.
