Vinayak Textile

Most mornings we get to Kabir Ratan Market around ten. Shop 110 isn't very large but it fits all the fabric rolls we need to keep on hand. Being in Revri Bazar means it’s always busy outside. You can hear the carts and people shouting all day. Vinayak Textile has been our life for quite a while now. We mostly handle different types of cloth for local tailors and small shops. It gets quite hot in the summer because the shop faces the sun in the afternoon. We have a small fan that barely does much. My brother handles the accounts and I talk to the customers who walk in. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk with the neighbors. Other days we don't even have time to drink water. The shelves are packed right up to the ceiling. Sometimes we have to use a shaky ladder to get the top rolls down. It’s a bit messy but we know where everything is. People come to us because they know we’ve been here for years. We don’t have a website or fancy brochures. If someone wants to see what we have, they just come to Kalaupur and visit the shop. It’s straightforward. We keep the ledger books by the front desk. Sometimes the power goes out and we just use flashlights. That’s just part of working in an old market like this one. We just try to do our work and go home.
