Alcance Keys

Our spot is right by Vijay Cross Road. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always something going on outside. We’ve been here for a while now. We deal with keys and locks. If you’ve ever lost your keys or needed a spare, you probably know how it goes. The shop is small and filled with all kinds of blanks and cutting machines. It’s a bit messy with metal shavings on the floor, but we sweep up every evening before locking up. The machines make a sharp grinding noise that you eventually stop noticing after working here for a few months. We get all sorts of people coming in. Some are in a hurry because they’re locked out of their cars or homes and look quite stressed. Others just want an extra key for their family or a neighbor. We just sit here and do the work as it comes. There’s a small wooden stool for customers to wait on, but most people just stand and watch us work. It’s not a fancy place by any means. We have some old calendars on the wall and a small radio that plays the news or some old music. The rent keeps going up, but we like being at this crossroad because it’s easy for people to find us. We don’t do any big marketing or put up huge banners. A simple sign outside is enough for most folks. It’s just a basic service we provide to the neighborhood. We keep our tools on a pegboard that is starting to sag.
