Shree Somnath Ice Factory

Our factory is located at Plot No. 1116 in Phase-3 of the GIDC. It’s a solid building that has seen a lot of use over the years. We produce ice blocks for all sorts of local needs. The process hasn't changed much since we started. It’s all about the temperature and the timing. We spend a lot of our day checking the gauges and making sure the water is clean. It’s a wet environment, so we’re always mopping or draining something. Our crew is small, mostly local men who have been with us for a long time. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. People just know we are here at Plot 1116. When the trucks come to load up in the morning, it's very chaotic. Everyone is in a rush to get their ice before it starts to thaw in the sun. We just try to keep things moving as fast as we can. After the morning rush, it gets a bit quieter, and we focus on the next batch. It’s a practical business. We don't make big promises; we just provide the ice that people ask for. The GIDC is a good place for us because the power supply is usually reliable enough. We have a small office where we keep the books, but mostly we are out on the floor. It’s a simple life and we’re okay with that. We just take it day by day and hope for good weather.
