Shree Rang Ice Factory

Shree Rang Ice Factory is situated at Plot No. K-1/9 in Phase-1 of Gidc. We are right behind where the Old Kalupur Commercial Bank used to be. Working in an ice factory means it's always cold inside, even when the sun is beating down on the Gidc outside. We make large blocks of ice that we sell to fishermen, local vendors, and sometimes for events. It’s a lot of heavy lifting since those blocks are not light at all. We use hooks to slide them across the floor and onto the trucks. The machinery we use is old but it gets the water frozen solid given enough time. There is always the sound of the compressors humming in the background. It becomes like white noise after you've worked here a month. We don't really do much in terms of sales pitches. People know we have ice and they come get it when they need it. The floor can be slippery, so we have to be careful when moving around. Our team is just a few local guys who don't mind the cold temperatures. We spend most of the morning loading up deliveries for the local markets. By the afternoon, we are usually prepping the next batch of water for freezing overnight. It’s a simple cycle that we’ve been following for years. No frills, just cold ice in a hot industrial area. It keeps the town's food fresh and that is good enough for us. It works for everyone involved.
