If you find yourself in Phase-3 of the GIDC, look for the V Trans office. We are right opposite that at Plot No. 2021. The name of the place is Fine Boring, which pretty much describes what we do every day. We’ve got these large boring machines that take up most of the floor space. They are heavy and need a lot of maintenance. Our hands are usually covered in some kind of grease or cutting oil by ten in the morning. It’s hard to keep the place perfectly clean when you’re shaving metal all day long. There’s a constant pile of metal curls in the bins near the machines. We have a small crew and everyone knows their role. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If someone comes by, they usually just walk up to the main floor and wait for one of us to notice them over the noise. The lighting is okay, but we use extra lamps when we’re checking the internal diameters of the parts. It’s repetitive work but it requires staying focused so things don’t go off-center. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad. We close up when the sun goes down and start all over again the next morning. It’s a practical way to make a living and we’ve been doing it this way for many years now. There is no glamour here.
